FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What time can I board the cruise ship?
Boarding times vary by cruise line and sailing. Confirm your check-in window and arrival time in your cruise documents, and arrive during your assigned window whenever possible.
Do we need a Canadian visa if we are not US or Canadian citizens?
It depends on your passport and how you are entering Canada. Some travelers need a Canadian visitor visa (temporary resident visa) to arrive by cruise ship, even if they do not plan to get off the ship in Canada. Others are visa-exempt and only need a valid passport when arriving by cruise ship. For the most accurate answer for your country, use Canada’s official tool to check your entry requirements before you travel.
What is the cut-off time for boarding the cruise ship?
Plan to arrive at least two hours before sailing. Boarding cut-off times vary by cruise line, and late arrivals can be denied boarding. Always follow the cutoff time listed in your cruise documents.
Do I need to be screened when going on a cruise?
Yes. All passengers are screened before boarding. Screening is similar to airport security. If you have a pacemaker or defibrillator, notify a security officer before screening.
What is not allowed on the vessel?
Weapons and items considered harmful or dangerous are prohibited. If you are unsure about an item, leave it at home and contact your cruise line for guidance.
Where can I get additional luggage tags?
Luggage tag distribution varies by cruise line. If you need extra tags, contact your cruise line. On sailing day, limited assistance may be available near the terminal entrance.
Is baggage storage available at the cruise terminal?
Limited same-day baggage storage may be available on cruise days and must be reclaimed the same day. Availability, hours, and fees can vary, so plan ahead and ask Guest Services when you arrive.
Is there help available at the terminal if I have questions?
Yes. Guest service teams are available throughout the terminal, and staff and signage will guide you through check-in, security screening, and passenger flow.
Where is baggage claim located after my cruise?
Baggage claim areas are located inside the terminal. Your cruise line will provide debarkation instructions, including where to go and when to retrieve bags.
How do I get from the airport to the terminal?
Common options include taxi, rideshare, shuttle services, and public transportation. If you are traveling on a tight schedule, arranging transportation in advance is recommended.
What are the nearest hotels to the cruise terminal?
There are many hotel options in and around downtown. For a wide range of nearby hotels and visitor planning help, contact Visit Seattle at 206-461-5800 or use their visitor information resources.
How far is it from the cruise terminal to the airport?
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is roughly a 25 to 40 minute drive from Pier 91 depending on traffic.
When should I have my family or friend pick me up from the cruise terminal?
Disembarkation timing varies by ship and sailing day. Your cruise line will provide debarkation instructions. Once you claim your bags inside the terminal, passengers exit to the pickup zones just outside.
Where should my family or friend park when they come to pick me up?
For pickups at Pier 91, follow posted signage and staff directions. If they arrive early, they should use the parking lot or the free cell phone waiting area rather than circling the terminal.
I cannot find my luggage. Who do I contact?
If your luggage is missing after disembarkation, start with your cruise line staff, since baggage handling and tracking is managed by the ship. If you believe you lost an item inside the terminal, contact us through the Contact page.
What should I do if I left something onboard the ship?
Contact your cruise line as soon as possible. They manage onboard Lost and Found and can provide the correct claim process for your sailing.
Do you offer wheelchair transport support?
Yes. A wheelchair transport zone is available, and accessibility support can be requested. If you need assistance, let your cruise line know in advance and notify terminal staff when you arrive.
